Favre called it quits this past March after losing the 2008 NFC Championship Game. He was reinstated into the league several months later, explaining that he had never fully committed to retiring. He requested an unconditional release from the Packers, which wasn't granted. After an ugly tug-of-war divorce with Green Bay management, Favre was traded to the New York Jets on Aug. 6, 2008.
