Not Presenting Empirical Evidence. Either beta test or have real customers, depending on what area you are in. We don’t want just a synopsis of what other people have done but what you have done and how your beta test went; show us proof of concept.
Not Knowing Where the Money Flows. Really understand what generates a revenue stream. It is consistently the single most important element in a presentation, and it is often not well understood by entrepreneurs.
Presenting Too Much Information. A lot of people are enthusiastic about what they are doing and don’t clearly understand that the investor has a different point of view. The investor wants to get to who you are quickly, what your service or product is, what the competition is, how big the market is, how much money you need, what you are going to do with it, and how much you are going to make. People become so carried away with their company. Investors see a lot of companies—we want a presentation in short form.
