The equestrian and modern pentathlon events will be held in Greenwich Park, London's oldest Royal Park, opened in 1433. Located on the south bank of the Thames in southeast London, at 0° longitude, it gives its name to the world standard for time-keeping, Greenwich Mean Time. A cross-country course will be added to the venue for 2012, as well as a temporary arena on the grounds of the National Maritime Museum that will accommodate 23,000 spectators. Also shown is the Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong, where 2008 Olympic equestrian events took place.
