Then:
Last year, Loopt, the company that created software that lets users locate their friends' whereabouts on a cell phone, was picking up steam: it had received $5 million in venture money from two firms and was offering the $3-per-month service on Sprint (S) networks. Co-founders Sam Altman and Nick Sivo were hoping the 35-employee company would be profitable by the end of 2008.

Now:
Today, Altman says you can find Loopt on all of the major carriers except T-Mobile, and its new iPhone (AAPL) application has over 100,000 users. Altman says the company has seen an "infinite increase" in revenues, intends to expand to Western Europe and Asia, and should be in dozens of countries by the end of 2008. Says Altman: "There was a turning point in the last year where most of our major partners started coming to us, instead of the other way around."
