Making the Old New Again

The students at the Thunderbird School of Global Management are leading an initiative to renovate the flight tower, which dates back to 1939 and has served as the school's focal point for 60 years. Structural problems closed the tower in 2006. "It started out as unusable, and it's a landmark for the campus," says Rebecca Mitchell, one of the students leading the initiative. "When we started thinking of ways to improve it, going green was the obvious choice." The tower will feature items reused from the building and zinc material and solar panels on the roof.
