MBA students at the Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley attend large social events, known as Consumption Functions, once a month—and they were producing a lot of trash. Now the students have hired a compost service and have eliminated about 150 gallons of trash per function, says Karen Salvini, second-year MBA student and co-vice president for sustainability in the school's Net Impact chapter.
