Castle was the genius showman (some would say huckster) of the 1950s, when Hollywood was trying anything to compete with the new medium of television. Not only did Castle make movies in 3-D, but in theaters playing his films, skeletons flew over the crowd, and audience members got small shocks from their seats to encourage them to scream.
