Smart ForTwo

Speed: 75 mph (120 km/h)
Range: 68 mi (110 km)
Availability: 2010

The Smart ForTwo has gone electric. Sticking with the design that has become familiar on the streets of crowded European cities, Smart has simply dumped its engine for a bigger battery. Performance will remain largely the same, too. Locked in second gear, the new Smart goes from zero to 60 km/h in the same time as its fuel-fed counterpart. Daimler is testing 100 of its first-generation EVs in London and plans to deliver to market an upgraded series in 2010.
