Frank Gehry Goes 3D: Digital Project

2008

The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, designed by Frank Gehry, is a Las Vegas health-care facility specializing in research for such diseases as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, and ALS. Gehry's project managers used Digital Project, which is 3D-building information modeling software from Gehry Technologies, the firm Frank Gehry founded in 2002 to bring technological advances to architecture. This model allowed fabricators, erectors, and constructors to see a 360-degree view of building components—layer by layer—enabling accurate fabrication and construction. The building is expected to be completed in 2009.
