"It is way past time for our political, business, and educational leadership to come together to rebuild our energy independence, our foundational infrastructure, and our balance in trade.

A better and stronger U.S. requires a healthy and growing U.S. manufacturing sector and vice versa. A dynamic manufacturing sector will, stimulate and achieve energy independence, a strong infrastructure to support our economy, and a balance in trade. Trade in a global economy based on freedom from 'mercantilism' and other trade-distorting practices. It will promote the attraction of our youth to the fields of science and engineering and our technical and crafts trades. It will provide us the means to insure the safety and health of our society in a way that grows a sense of self worth and personal satisfaction to the masses.

It is critical to communicate the truly massive coordinated effort that will be necessary to achieve success. An effort akin to our Apollo space program, a program that will stimulate the imagination and efforts of a new generation of Americans, young and old, to believe in achieving the 'impossible' and to prove once again that what the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. The Apollo program unleashed the creative juices of several generations and gave birth to the many modern miracles that so many of us take for granted today in every walk of life.

This is where we as a country and our government need to invest the taxpayers money not in $600 checks that only give us a 'sugar high' and then leave our economy worse off than before. These programs will take strong leadership in the next Administration and will dramatically strengthen both our economic and national security."
