There are dozens of Internet marketplaces where you can set up shop and sell online. But which sites are worth your time? Finding the right ones depends on what youre selling, who youre trying to reach, and what you're willing to pay. Giants like eBay (EBAY) and Amazon (AMZN) still dominate, but your company may also find sales on smaller players or sites with narrow focuses. It's difficult to say how many e-commerce platforms exist because new sites are always popping up, says Sucharita Mulpuru, an e-business analyst with Forrester Research (FORR). "It remains to be seen whether or not they're going to get much traction from sellers or people who are going to buy," she says.
