Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras

As an ocean liner, this Canadian Pacific Steamship vessel made 121 transatlantic voyages before Israeli-American entrepreneur Ted Arison acquired it in 1972. Arison repositioned what he called the Mardi Gras as a Caribbean vacation option, later hiring TV personality Kathie Lee Gifford to promote his "Fun Ships." Arison died one of the world's richest men in 1999, his Carnival Corp. the largest in the industry.
