Despite the current economic crisis, entrepreneurship is alive and kicking in Europe. That's the message from BusinessWeek's annual European Young Entrepreneur Contest, a competition that allows you to choose which businesses run by entrepreneurs under 30 years of age have the best chance for success. From an eco-friendly Danish heating company to an Israeli tech startup, this year's choices are as diverse as the countries the entrepreneurs call home.

In this third annual competition, we began by asking our readers to nominate candidates. We screened out entrants who failed to meet the contest criteria and then interviewed the rest about their companies and motivations.
