Hailed in 2007 as the Web startup that would redefine contemporary television, a year later Joost has proven to be anything but. The Luxemburg company, which is backed by the entrepreneurs behind music download site Kazaa and Net telephony giant Skype (EBAY), announced in October it was going back to the drawing board. Instead of forcing users to download a dedicated video viewer to their PCs, the company instead moved to the industry-standard Flash video technology from Adobe Systems (ADBE), following in the steps of Hulu.com.
