Jobs Cut: 1,000
ASML Holding (ASML) said Dec. 18 it is eliminating 1,000 jobs, or more than 10% of its workforce. A key supplier to Intel and other computer chipmakers, ASML is struggling as demand for its products plunges. The Dutch company also announced that a training site in Tempe, Ariz., will be closed, and that it plans to shut down production facilities for a total of four weeks spread throughout the first half of 2009.
