In the runup to his election victory, President Barack Obama fired up green energy advocates with a pledge to steer $150 billion into green initiatives over 10 years. And while details of his agenda remain sketchy, he's added oomph to this early pledge by arguing that a separate, far larger $800 billion fiscal stimulus package focus on green investment, too. For example, the House Appropriations Committee is working on a bill that spells out some $32 billion for clean energy, with $10 billion in new tax breaks, and $11 billion specified for the smart grid. In a speech just before his inauguration, Obama fleshed out his plans, calling for a doubling of America's renewable energy output in just three years, toward the goal of boosting renewables to 25% of the grid by 2025. The coming days will reveal more details about Obama's green plans. For now, here are a few predictions of who (or what) is likely to win and lose.
