“I always knew I wanted own my own company, but what really inspired me to start a business was being in the military,” says Jones, who joined the service in 1987 as an Army Ranger. “If you’re on special operations command you’re going to be your own boss.” The inspiration is ongoing. When he faces challenges with his 130-employee Ranger Group, an engineering and construction company, “I fall back on my military career,” he says. “I can always go back to the largest fraternity in the world and ask for advice.”
