Since Abu Dhabi investors acquired the club in 2008, Manchester City has become known as "the world's richest football club." That may be so, but Manchester City has a long way to go before it challenges local rival Manchester United for the title of England's highest-earner. To improve City's chances, the club's Mideast investors already have forked out €112.5 million ($144.6 million) on new players and are expected to spend similar amounts in 2009 to lure some of the world's best talent to the Northern English city.
