Smoke or Clouds?

A sense of foreboding hangs over Yaroslavl these days. Beyond the broad expanse of the frozen river Volga, plumes of smoke rise from the industrial district. "There are big rain clouds," says local businessman Alexander Maikov. "At the moment it's quiet, but you can feel the tension."
