Sandy Horner was laid off from a Pittsburgh computer training franchise in 2007. She then joined a consulting firm but parted ways after six months when it was clear "the position that I was hired to fill was not going to develop." In January 2008, Horner started her own consulting practice helping small firms improve their sales strategies. "I help them to build a better infrastructure to support their sales organization," she says.
