Rana Mumtaz was let go after a year as manager of corporate finance at online printing company Mimeo. With the job market tanking and her second child on the way, Mumtaz skipped the job hunt to pursue a side venture she had been cooking for a year: Fablogue.com, a forum to discover hard-to-find fashions. "I just said, 'All right, this is a golden opportunity. Let me just now concentrate on my business,'" she says. Mumtaz, whose husband is the chief technology officer and only other employee, launched the site late last year and is now trying to raise angel funding.
