IBM (IBM) has the largest corporate 401(k) plan by net assets, with $30.8 billion total. There are 230,000 employees in the plan, with an average balance of $130,000. IBM, like many big companies, froze its pension in recent years and enhanced its 401(k) plan, adding automatic savings, customized target-date funds, and a supercharged match. IBM stock is not in the top three holdings.
