Twitter is being used by marketers in many ways, but perhaps the most aggressive method involves a service called TwitterHawk. The Web-based tool lets any company send automatic Twitter messages to people on the microblogging site who mention a certain keyword, such as "coffee," within a certain geographic area. The site charges marketers five cents for each ad they send.
