Twitter users who want to send and view tweets from places other than Twitter.com can use a host of desktop, mobile, and Web-based applications. Many of them boast features such as organizing people into groups and automatically streaming messages in real-time. Iain Dodsworth, creator of the popular Tweetdeck desktop program, is laying plans to generate revenue from his product this year. He won't divulge how, but says he doesn't plan to charge for Tweetdeck or any premium version of it.
