Verenium

This Cambridge (Mass.) company makes ethanol at a pilot plant in Jennings, La., fed by sugarcane "bagasse," the high-cellulose residue left after the sugar is removed. Backed by BP (BP) and money from both the federal Energy Dept. and the state of Florida, Verenium (VRNM) plans to break ground for a $250 million to $300 million commercial cellulosic ethanol facility in Florida.
