Boeing (BA), one of the world's two predominant planemakers, maintains a staff of just under 100 in its tax department. Boeing says that its tax rate is not exceedingly low, noting that its effective tax rates have hovered around 30% for the last several years. In their SEC filings, Boeing points out that it has over $1 billion in unrecognized tax benefits, which would affect their effective tax rate in the future.
