Adobe's (ADBE) headquarters was the first office building to earn top LEED status, in 2006. The software company invested $2.3 million to retrofit its head offices. The 64 energy-saving projects included new lighting and the installation of variable-speed fans for heating and air conditioning. Adobe figures it earned back its investments in as little as nine months.
