How'd he get so rich? In 1959, with high school best friend Jay Van Andel, DeVos started direct seller Amway, pushing everything from cosmetic to cleaners. Today there are more than 3 million salespeople around the world ringing up more than $7 billion in annual sales. DeVos stepped down from running the privately held company in 1993. Today he owns the Orlando Magic basketball team and has a fortune estimated at $4.4 billion.
