Pepperdash provides the software to run complex, non-industrial electronic systems, everything from a command-and-control center for city officials managing a crisis to the heating and multimedia systems in resort homes. Nunes started Pepperdash with two partners in 2001, after once high-flying Internet consulting firm Breakaway Solutions, where he was senior director of information technology, fell on hard times. Nunes says he was drawn to his current inner city location because of the convenience to clients in downtown Boston and the reasonable rent. “We were very pragmatic,” Nunes says. “We try to be ethical and do all the right things for our community and our people but that is not why we moved here.”
