Steve Wozniak showed the prototype kit computer to friends at Silicon Valley's Homebrew Computer Club in April 1976. Wozniak (who signed this machine "Woz") and high school friend Steve Jobs went into production on the machine when the Byte Shop computer store in Mountain View, Calif., ordered 50 assembled circuit boards.
