A number of readers suggested this New Orleans landmark founded by Emilie Commander that had earned an international reputation as a destination for gourmets by 1900. Forty-four years later, Frank and Elinor Moran purchased the restaurant and expanded its menu—now known for crab cakes and turtle soup au sherry.
