Six of Verdant Power's squat, slow-moving underwater turbines sat on the bed of the East River for much of the past year, converting the water's flow into electricity for a nearby community. The company hopes to scale up the operation, increasing the turbine count to 30 turbines and setting up a second site in Ontario.
