School of Business

Villanova is the only school in the world established by the Roman Catholic Order of St. Augustine. The school, founded in 1842 and named after Spanish Augustinian St. Thomas, still holds true to its Augustinian values of Veritas (truth), Unitas (community), and Caritas (love), along with an emphasis on social justice and ethics. In 1922, Father Joseph C. Bartley founded the College of Commerce and Finance. He served as dean of the business school until he died in 1962. Two years later the College was renamed the Villanova School of Business.

In addition to an undergraduate business degree with a choice of six majors, the school now has two part-time MBA programs. It also offers masters degrees in accountancy, finance, church management, and taxation, as well as a dual law-MBA degree. Students who need a break from studying can head to Philadelphia, a 12-minute train ride east.
