Tippie's MBA program wins glowing reviews from students for ROI and financial aid, while its undergraduate business program boasts the lowest in-state tuition of any school in the Big Ten. And though some students are lukewarm on the school's recruiting efforts, Tippie grads enter the workforce with less debt than students almost anywhere else.
Nestled in the heart of the Midwest, the school is located in Iowa City (pop. 60,000), a vibrant city known for, among other things, floods and tornadoes. Says one Tippie undergrad surveyed by BusinessWeek: "If you can survive the weather conditions at the University of Iowa, you can survive anything—especially any sort of extreme business situation."
Despite the weather, campus facilities are top-notch. The 70,000-square-foot, $17.6 million Pomerantz Center, pictured, opened in 2005 and houses several student-focused programs. The building is accessible to both business-school and nonbusiness-school students, and also houses executive-style classrooms and a 400-seat auditorium.
