The 777, the newest Boeing widebody currently in service, has never had a fatal accident during more than 19 million hours in flight. There was a close call in January 2008, when a British Airways 777 crash-landed at London's Heathrow Airport, in an accident that was traced to ice crystals clogging a fuel-oil heat exchanger. The plane was declared a total loss; there were 13 injuries but no deaths.
