Ron McPhee, CEO of the $1.2 million, 14-employee Albuquerque company, which develops and markets wellness programs for companies trying to control health-insurance costs:
I started a previous health-care company in 1990 and sold it in 2000. That company provided technology—software and hardware—to companies in the health and wellness space. We saw what worked out there and what didn't work. We said we have a better way of doing that. People think they need to take better care of themselves and get in shape. But they do it for about a week and then fall off. We've addressed that through innovative technology. We provide motivation, accountability, and convenience.
The huge problem that is not going away is the rising cost of health care. We have created a next-generation solution to help populations become more healthy.
