Obama's Challenge: Produce a lightweight vest for soldiers and police officers that can stop an armor-piercing bullet.

Who's Got a Shot: Expect the defense companies to take on this challenge. Dupont already markets its Kevlar products, and Ceradyne manufactures ceramic armor plates. Lockheed Martin announced in January that it will sell armor jackets that can power soldiers' electronic devices.
