American Assets Chairman Ernest Rady founded the San Diego real estate firm in 1967. The company now has more than 5 million square feet of commercial and residential holdings, concentrated in California. Rady also started the Insurance Company of the West in 1971 (now part of ICW Group) and founded an auto finance company, called WestCorp, which he sold to Wachovia (now part of Wells Fargo—WFC) in 2004.
