Grandson of K.C. Mahindra, the founder of one of India's largest companies, Anand Mahindra became managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra (MM:IN) in 1997 and chairman in 2003. The highly diversified company, which provides IT services, makes motor vehicles, operates banks, and owns resorts—among many other activities—has become more global in recent years through high-profile deals such as a partnership with Renault (RNO:FP) to build the popular Logan sedan in India.
