This master-planned suburb on the western edge of Las Vegas next to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area grew rapidly in recent years and recently added a hotel and casino. Its parks, athletic facilities, luxury homes, and golf course have attracted many new residents and it has one of the lowest crime rates in this year's list. While the real estate here is affordable based on the average income, foreclosures have caused home values to decrease—the average home value in December had dropped by 19% year over year, according to online real estate analytics company Zillow.
