Despite the developing economy, about 22 percent of Georgia's population lives below the poverty level, reports CNN. A large number of Georgians, including young workers, have been leaving the country to work abroad and seek a higher standard of living. In addition to migration trends, Georgia's birth rate, at 13 per 1,000 people, may be higher than its death rate, 10 per 10,000, but is still insufficient to maintain the population level.
