The new A8 is rated to get 17 miles per gallon in the city and 27 on the highway, for an average of 21 mpg. That handily beats all-wheel-drive versions of the Porsche Panamera S (16/24/19), Lexus LS 460 (16/23/18), Mercedes S550 (14/21/17), and BMW 750i (14/20/16).
